4 More Regions to Benefit from Augmented Oceanwide Freshmen Assistance Program
China Oceanwide Holdings Group has pumped additional 800 million yuan to its 1.5-billion-yuan, five-year Freshmen Assistance Program and added Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang and Hunan to the beneficiary list till 2020.
The Group and the four regions’ United Front Work Department authorities signed agreements at a symposium on the Program’s new development in Beijing on July 18.
In accordance with the original plan, 60,000 college freshmen of registered poor families in Shandong, Hubei, Guangxi, Chongqing, Guizhou and Shaanxi, benefited from the Program established in 2016, with each of the 10,000 students from each of the above regions receiving a 5,000 yuan stipend.
Over the past 30 years, Oceanwide has donated over 5 billion yuan to various social causes and its Chairman Lu Zhiqiang was honored with the National Award for Contribution to Poverty Alleviation in 2016.
