3rd China’s Young Entrepreneurs Summit held in Fujian

The third China’s Young Entrepreneurs Summit was held in Fuzhou, capital city of South China’s Fujian Province, on Sept. 25, 2020.

 
Themed with “promote entrepreneurship, play vital role”, the summit was co-organized by the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC) and the Fujian provincial people’s government, and was sponsored by the ACFIC young entrepreneurs committee, the united front work department (UFWD) of CPC Fujian committee, Fujian provincial department of industry and information technology, Fujian provincial department of commerce, ACFIC Fujian branch, and the Fuzhou municipal people’s government.
 
Gao Yunlong, vice chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and chairman of ACFIC, and Wang Ning, governor of Fujian Province and deputy secretary of the CPC Fujian committee, attended and addressed the meeting.
 
ACFIC’s vice chairman Fan Youshan and Li Zhaoqian attended the opening ceremony, along with Zhao Long, executive vice governor of Fujian, Zhuang Jiahan, director of the Fujian’s UFWD, Shen Bin, vice chairman of the All-China Chamber of Industry and Commerce(ACCIC) and director of the ACFIC young entrepreneurs committee and chairman of the Shagang Group (a steel production corporation based in Jiangsu), Wang Guangyuan, vice chairman of the CPPCC Fujian committee and  chairman of ACFIC Fujian branch, and Zhao Dejiang, ACFIC party leadership member and secretary.

Gao Yunlong, vice chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and chairman of ACFIC, addressed the conference.
 
Gao Yunlong said that it was in Fujian Province, where President Xi Jinping used to work, that President Xi developed his thought on developing private economy.
 
In recent years, Fujian has carried out President Xi’s initiative on promoting all-round high-quality development and the central government’s decisions and arrangements on encouraging, supporting and guiding the development of private economy, and has introduced a series of policies on reducing cost, enhancing technological reform, speeding up innovation and financial support, which have resulted in a better legal, social and market environment for a better development of private economy in the province.
 
According to Gao, private enterprises have come across unprecedented risks and challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic and China-US trade conflicts. The younger generation in particular are confronted with multiple pressure.
 
The young entrepreneurs are of particular concern to President Xi, who has stressed that the work for younger generation entrepreneurs is a new  focus of the united front work at present and in the future.
 
Gao said that the summit just gathered young entrepreneurs in Fujian, hoping the occasion could help summarize some likeness in them so as for a better targeted service for their development.
 
He also said that patriotism was the brightest grounding of Chinese entrepreneurship, innovation and creation the basic core, modernized management solid guarantee for long-term development of private enterprises, while universal feelings a lofty ethic of Chinese entrepreneurs.
 
He hoped that young entrepreneurs could be a dreamer with firm faith, a striver with insight and capability who loves to win, a practitioner of modern management with higher standard, a good person with love and sentient beings in mind, and a pioneer with a higher vision and a global mind.

Wang Ning extended welcome towards attendees on behalf of the provincial government and party committee.
 
He said that the national young entrepreneurs summit was an essential platform for young entrepreneurs to have a brainstorm, share business opportunities and make a difference, which had played an important role in developing private economy and the local economy of the hosting place.
 
When President Xi worked in Fujian and promoted the development of local private economy, a batch of Fujian entrepreneurs pioneered the market, which led to a constant thriving of the provincial private economy with a leapfrog development. 
 
The Chinese character “Fu” means “auspiciousness” and Fujian is indeed an auspicious place with vitality and bright future,Wang said.
 
He sent invitation towards entrepreneurs to take the historical chance and come to Fujian to make a difference.
 
He promised that Fujian would build a better business environment with more precise policies, more effective entrepreneurship platforms and more careful service to help entrepreneurs to invest and develop.

 
Shen Bin, vice chairman of ACCIC and director of the ACFIC young entrepreneurs committee and chairman of the Shagang Group, a steel production corporation based in Jiangsu Province, announced a decision on the meeting.


Yan Kaijing, director of the young entrepreneurs association, passed the summit’s flag to Wu Rongzhao, president of the Fujian provincial young entrepreneurs association.

 
The summit began with a decision of adding new members announced by Shen Bin, followed by a ceremony where Yan Kaijing, director of the Tianjin young entrepreneurs association, passed the summit’s flag to Wu Rongzhao, president of the Fujian provincial young entrepreneurs association.
 
Leaders of the organizers and representatives of young entrepreneurs jointly declared the opening of the summit.
 
Shen presided over the keynote speech session, where scholars, experts and renowned entrepreneurs presented a mind feast on “the new development pattern of mutual promotion between domestic and international double cycles, fostering new advantages for China to participate in international cooperation and competition under new circumstances, modernized corporation management and inheritance”.

Huang Qifan, distinguished professor of Fudan University and former mayor of Chongqing municipality, gave a speech on accelerating the formation of a new pattern of development in which both domestic and international cycles play a dominant role and both domestic and international cycles promote each other and how young entrepreneurs grasp this developing opportunities.
 
Huang believed that building a complete domestic demand system and forming the new pattern of double-cycle development had become essential content of future Chinese economy, entrepreneurs should promote corporation high-quality development by doing well five things: first, stabilize market expectations and encourage nongovernmental investment; second, focus on innovation-driven development and break through the chain of whole-process innovation as soon as possible; third, seize the opportunity of new infrastructure construction and future development; fourth, strengthen and expand the chain to lay a solid foundation for the development of industrial chain clusters; fifth, make good use of the reform and opening up policies and follow the trend of pilot free trade zones and service trade zones.

Chen Chunhua, dean of the BiMBA at the National School of Development, Peking University, made a keynote speech on coporation modernized management and inheritance.
 
In Chen’s opinion, corporations in the future should notice the better-life-driven human development trend and a learning-oriented corporation culture. She recommend four aspects to enterprises for sustainable and innovation development including building a value of legacy and inheritance, trust and appreciation between generations, team spirit, and long-term strategy.
 
On the conference, six entrepreneurs gave speeches on making breakthroughs in a “hundred ships struggling tide”.

Chen Dongsheng, member of the ACFIC advisory committee and chairman and CEO of Taikang Insurance Group, said consumption and economy development were people centered, for basic necessities of life as in the industrial era, while in the post-industrial era for entertainment, education, medical care and old-age care.
 
He said that the prosper of service industry is a natural pattern when China’s economy stepped into the post-industrial era where digital time nurtured sci-tech and digital tycoons like Alibaba and Tencent. And young entrepreneurs should focus on the where consumption and domestic demand tycoons were.

Cao Dewang, chairman of Fuyao Glass Industry Group, made a keynote speech on the value and cultivation of entrepreneurs. He believed that entrepreneurs should have political and cultural confidence and also confidence in capability and behavior, believing in government’s decision and authority and be grateful and honest, cultivating comprehensive knowledge and having belief and wisdom while shouldering responsibilities and work ethics, abiding by the law and regulation while safeguarding the interest of employees, suppliers, clients and government, and being aware of limitations of one’s own capability.

Liu Chang, deputy director of the ACFIC young entrepreneurs committee and chairman of the New Hope Liuhe, made a speech on “new breakthroughs and hearty inheritance”, generating on the “five new” concept of New Hope, i.e. new mechanism, new competition, new technology, new responsibility and new youth, saying that inheritance should be at an early time and pass on spirit, above fortune and stakes, to a team instead of an individual.

Guo Guangchang, chairman and co-founder of Fosun, talked about how younger generation surpassed older entrepreneurs. His answer was to have more scientific and reasonable independent thought, be responsible and dare to break limitations, have a global vision and respect traditional industry. He hoped young entrepreneurs could embrace new technology with a global vision and make breakthroughs in the “post-media era”.

Liu Qing, deputy director of the ACFIC young entrepreneurs committee and CEO of Didi Chuxing, mainly talked about the epidemic impact on DiDi and the importance of technology innovation on future life.
 
She said, “an enterprise can pluck up courage and strength constantly only when it keep a beginner’s mind, which for DiDi is to solve people’s transportation problem with advanced science and technology, solve the problem of travel anxiety and worsened resource shortage problem. We also believe in three trends: electric, shared and intelligent (transportation).”
 
She believed that it’s difficult for a corporation to change outer environment, instead, it should adjust itself by setting higher targets, finding new way-outs extensively, and polishing service quality and client’s experience, and adjusting corporation’s attitude and culture.

Jack Ma, co-chair of the UN High-level Panel on Digital Cooperation and founder of Jack Ma Foundation, said that 2020 was a turning point for the world situation as technology and domestic economy kept changing while  the COVID-19 epidemic broke out with a chain reaction. 
 
He believed that the best moment for entrepreneurship was economic downturn, was now., and the worst thing for an entrepreneur was misjudgment on future and one’s own ability, be it overestimation or underestimation.
 
He suggested three perspectives to young entrepreneurs: future perspective, global perspective and global perspective, asking them to solve current problems with a future vision and do the things they really love.
 
He said that a digital globalization had juts begun, which was a big opportunity for entrepreneurs to establish bigger bridge for communication and see clearly their position in the interest chain so as for a strategic movement and tenacity.
 
“We are facing three huge strategic opportunities now: digital reform, China’s strong domestic demand, and a new round of globalization. The young entrepreneurs are real inter-generational entrepreneurs.” He said, adding that the biggest beneficiary in the future was not Internet companies but rather traditional industries using new technology and Internet to transform.
 
In the afternoon of the opening day, Fujian provincial industry program promotion campaign was held in the Fuzhou Strait International Conference & Exhibition Center (FSICEC), attended by Gao Yunlong, Fan Youshan, Li Zhaoqian, Zhao Long and Zhuang Jiahan, and presided over by Wang Guangyuan.
 
Fan Youshan said that Fujian had a good environment for entrepreneurs with strong industrial eco-system and good business culture, and was a hot destination for investment and for young entrepreneurs to thrive.
 
He said the promotion campaign was also an implementation on President Xi Jinping’s requirements for all-round high-quality development in Fujian, which provided diverse and high-quality programs for private entrepreneurs.
 
He encouraged young entrepreneurs to be active in participation and believed they could get bountiful return from investing in Fujian.
 
According to Zhao Long, President Xi used to say that Fujian should build a flexible mechanism, excellent industry and achieve rich life, beautiful eco-environment and high-quality development in an all-round way.
 
Zhao said Fujian was a highland for economic growth, reform and innovation, with good business environment and natural and cultural resource.
 
He earnestly hoped the young entrepreneurs attending the summit could participate in Fujian’s social economic development with the good tradition of entrepreneurship and their lofty dreams.
 
On the summit, Zhou Hongyi, chairman and CEO of Qihoo 360 Technology, Zeng Yuqun, chairman of Contemporary Amperex Technology Ltd. (CATL), and Yu Dexiang, chairman of TELD new energy company, exchanged their thoughts.
 
The Fujian digital office introduced related work in the province, while the provincial industry and information department and cities including Fuzhou, the capital city of Fujian, Quanzhou, Sanming, and Nanping introduced their local industrial development, investment environment and their investment projects.

Zhou Hongyi, chairman and CEO of Qihoo 360 Technology, said that people didn’t know big data, cloud computing or digitization 20 years ago when Internet was just introduced to China. Yet President Xi began to explore digitization in Fujian then.
 
And nowadays, China has put developing digital economy and building digital country as national strategy while attaching great importance to the security problem of developing digital economy.
 
The Qihoo 360 Technology is China’s biggest cyber security company, who takes protecting digital infrastructure construction and digital economy as its mission, said Zhou.
 
According to Zhou, digital technology is the foundation of digital economy, and digital infrastructure construction is support, and data the new production factor for digital economy.
 
In the digital economic era, the whole Internet infrastructure and digital infrastructure become more complex with ubiquitous sporadic loopholes, where data security stands out and the world’s security risks will be redefined.
 
The Qihoo 360 Technology takes several years to construct a future-oriented security capability system, which is essentially a security operation and maintenance system based on network confrontation and actual network attack and defense, which can realize unified perception and overall defense.
 
Zhou said they were willing to contribute this system to the country and Fujian province, hoping to position themselves as network security operator in the new era to protect digital infrastructure and China’s digital economy.

According to Zeng Yuqun, chairman of Contemporary Amperex Technology Ltd. (CATL), CATL has become the world’s leading enterprise of power batteries and energy batteries for new energy vehicles, ranking the first in the use of independent batteries in the world for three consecutive years.
 
As a private enterprise, CATL’s development is inseparable from the strong support of Fujian provincial government and Ningde municipal government and the help of a good business environment.
 
Fujian’s hardcore “weapon” in attracting investment is a dynamic mechanism with excellent industries, which can adjust measures for the industry, and dare to innovate and break through.
 
In the long run, the Fujian provincial government implements one policy for each industry, effectively resolves overcapacity, and forms strategic emerging industries to speed up the cultivation, strengthen project support, promote industry-specific measures, focus on innovation and pioneering, and accelerate industrial optimization in multiple dimensions.

Yu Dexiang, chairman of TELD new energy company, said new energy plus new energy vehicles had become China’s largest industry after the real estate and Internet, and had become the country’s top strategic new infrastructure.
 
TELD’s goal and mission is to build the largest car charging network in China, according to Yu, so that new energy vehicles can be charged with new energy, and exhaust fumes and smog can be kept away from human beings.
 
The promotion conference held a signing ceremony of key projects, where a total of 21 projects signed on site, with a total investment of 68.5 billion yuan, covering intelligent manufacturing, health and pension, cloud computing, regional headquarters, digital economy, new energy and other emerging industries and traditional industries with advantages. Among them, there are 13 manufacturing projects, 6 service projects and 2 economic projects of the headquarters.

After the welcoming meeting, ACFIC young members committee’s youth
Theory study group exchanged on their learning of President Xi Jinping’s remarks on private economy. Li Zhaoqian and Shen Bin attended.
 
The group leader Wu Guangsheng, chairman of the China Communication Technology presided over the group discussion, where Li Jingjing, chairman of the Liaoning Qingchuang entrepreneurship service group and deputy chief of the study group, reported the group’s annual work. Xu Qingliu, board chairman of Fujian Qinqin, Wang Yang, chairman of China Business Alliance Group, Zhong Yangjun, chairman of Qinghai Taining cement company, Xu Zewei, chairman of 91 Technology Group, and Yao Wenjing, vice president of Shanxi Huizhong motor company, exchanged their thoughts.
 
Li Zhaoqian, ACFIC’s vice chairman, acknowledged the study group’s exploration and effort, and encouraged them to further study classics and the history of CPC, Chinese nation and the reform and opening-up.


He said that the group was aimed at enlightening each other though exchange and communication, and suggested holding more activities for young entrepreneurs to share experience and thoughts and to wipe out puzzles.

 
The group members, who are mainly young entrepreneurs, said they would make full of the study group to improve the members’ knowledge on policies and related thoughts.
 
The Fujian young entrepreneurs association signed friendly chambers of commerce with their counterparts in Beijing, Tianjin, Congqing and Hebei, Heilongjiang, Jiangsu, Hubei and Yunnan provinces.
 
The summit organized attendees to visit Fuyao Group and Donghu digital town, and held three panels on “digital Fujian and digital economy”, “electric Fujian and new energy”, and “new trade chapter within ‘double cycle’”.


Some 500 people including those from the ACFIC related departments, all members of the ACFIC young entrepreneurs committee, renowned entrepreneurs and economists of the older generation, ACFIC business chambers’ representatives, entrepreneur representatives from various provinces and cities, and directors from related departments of Fujian provincial and Fuzhou municipal government, and the Fujian young entrepreneurs association representatives attended the summit.
