Following a joint investigation trip last year to the extremely poor mountainous areas in the Chongqing municipality, Sichuan and Shaanxi provinces, ACFIC, the China Society of Private Economy Studies and the Supervisory Center of the Guangcai Program of the United Front Work Department of CPC Central Committee hosted a seminar in Beijing on February 13 and 14 to trace the feedback on their proposals on poverty alleviation in the region.
The proposals, entitled Policy Proposals on Poverty Relief and Development in Adjacent Extremely Poor Areas in Qinba Region, have been sent to the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development and Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu for comments.
The participants focused their discussions on the 10 policy proposals in Part III of the Proposals as well as Hui"s feedback.
The federations of industry and commerce, poverty relief offices and grassroots cadres of Chongqing, Sichuan and Shaanxi made detailed suggestionsonhow to improve infrastructure, increase investment in social facilities, boost human resources, support agriculture with local characteristics, and implement special fiscal and tax policies in the region.
Cao Hongmin, Deputy Director of CPAD Foreign-Funded Projects Management Center, explained the Guidelines for Poverty Alleviation and Development for the Chinese Countryside in the New Decade, and the drafting process of poverty alleviation and development policies for the adjacent extremely poor regions.
